We decided that as a change this year, we would prepare our own Thanksgiving dinner at home | It’s been awhile and some of the dishes were new recipes to us, like these smashed potatoes | But it turns out that following the advice of Cook’s Illustrated and draping a turkey with a sliced slab of pork belly really is a good idea ☺ | Sweet potatoes with the usual spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.), and of course gravy for the turkey | Cook’s said to discard the now-rendered pork, but it was too tasty so it got put out in a bowl, seen here with the dressing | Haven’t even had slivered-almond green beans in a while | “60 Minute Rolls” from the Kitchen Aid mixer cookbook round out the menu |
