Darwin’s son washes the logs, so they don’t wear out the saw so fast | Here’s the main workhorse saw | It has two blades: the vertical one visible here and a horizontal one cutting under to get a board | Here you can see the effect of the horizontal blade, forming a complete 2x4 | Many boards come off double-width, and are cut in half by this band saw | Here’s a board nearly cut through in half |
They have this newer mobile saw…not sure how much use it’s gotten so far | A really old saw. I’m pretty sure this hasn’t been used in awhile. :) | A wider angle…it looked to me as though this saw is basically for ripping logs only | Loading the washed logs onto the conveyor bed for the main saw | Technically, this is a mobile saw too…but I don’t think you’d move it around often | The band saw, from the other side…you can see the main saw in the background |
A big pile of boards from our logs | The same pile and building, seen from the end | My dad looks on…you can see here the rollers used to carry cut pieces over to the band saw | I just liked the way this all looked | Some of the early output…lots of 2x8s here. | The main stack, as of June |
